The Council Chief Whip is responsible for administering the whipping system that ensures that members of the party attend and vote in the council as the party leadership desires. The Office of the Chief Whip was established to create synergy and to maintain discipline among Councillors from various Political Parties.
The Role of Council Chief Whip covers both the political and administrative domains of the Council with emphasis on the political aspect.
The Council Chief Whip has to ensure that the relationship between political parties
is constructive and focused on key issues that aimed at improving service delivery to O.R. Tambo Residents.
